Participants

Assoc. Prof. Spyridon Ntougias studied chemistry (Univ. Athens, Greece) and received his Ph.D. in 1999 from the Department of Biological Sciences, Wye College, University of London, UK. He worked as scientific staff at National Agricultural Research Foundation (NAGREF) and became academic staff in 2009 at the Department of Environmental Engineering, DUTH. He has 17-year research experience on applied microbiology and bioengineering. He has 63 peer-reviewed publications in scientific journals (h index: 24, Citations: 1443), 3 chapter books, 1 patent and more than 65 participations in international and national conferences. He has/had participated in 7 EU-(co)funded projects (in two as Coordinator), 2 IAEA projects, and 19 national research projects. He has served as Coordinator in 13 out of 26 projects.

Assoc. Prof. Paraschos Melidis studied chemistry and received his Ph.D. in 1991 from
University of Stuttgart. He was appointed an academic position in 2006 at the Department of Environmental Engineering, DUTH. He is the Director of the Laboratory of Wastewater Management and Treatment Technologies, Department of Environmental Engineering, DUTH. He has 53 research publications in scientific journals and has participated in 34 national and EU-funded research projects (in 20 as Coordinator).

Dr. Ioanna Alexandropoulou studied Molecular Biology and Genetics in Democritus University of Thrace (DUTH) and received her Ph.D. degree in 2013 from the School of Medicine, DUTH, in the field of Public Health and Molecular Epidemiology. She has more than 5-year postdoctoral experiences in research foundations and universities, such as the Hellenic Center for Disease Control & Prevention and the Laboratory of Medical Microbiology – DUTH. She has teaching experience in the Department of Environmental Engineering, School of Engineering, University of Western Macedonia, Greece (Courses: “Environmental Microbiology” and “Principles of Biology”) and in the School of Medicine, DUTH (Course: “Microbiology II”). Her current position is Postdoctoral Researcher in “Minotaur” research project at the Laboratory of Wastewater Management and Treatment Technologies, Department of Environmental Engineering, DUTH, Greece.

Miss Zografina Mavriou studied Environmental Engineering at the Department of Environmental Engineering, School of Engineering, Democritus University of Thrace, and graduated in 2016 with grade 8.33/10. She completed her postgraduate studies at the Department of Civil Engineering, School of Engineering, Democritus University of Thrace in the postgraduate program “Hydraulic Engineering and Environment”, directed to the “Water Resources Management Projects” with grade 9.42/10. Since October 2018, she has been a member of the research team of the Minotaur Research Program.

Konstantinos Azis has graduated from the Department of Environmental and Natural Resources Management, University of Patras, Greece. He received his M.Sc. degree in the field of Environmental Engineering and Science from the Department of Environmental Engineering, Democritus University of Thrace and nowadays he is a Ph.D. Candidate in Environmental Engineering at the same department, receiving a scholarship from the State Scholarships Foundation (I.K.Y.), Greece. He has more than 10 participations in international and national conferences and 3 publications in international journals.
